Rail Journeys
Travelling by train is a great way to see South America.
Perfectly relaxed and comfortable, you’ll have nothing more to worry about as you traverse whichever country you’re visiting than making sure you take in as much of that incredible scenery as possible – with the knowledge that a lot of it you just won’t get to see unless you’re travelling by train.
And some of the countries of South America are so huge – two of them, Brazil and Argentina, are within the top ten of largest countries in the world – that it’s quite simply the case that there’s no better option than travelling by train if you want to see as much of them as possible.
But there are also some journeys you can take in these countries which are adventures in themselves.
In Peru, the luxury Hiram Bingham service will treat you to three and a half hours of wonderful vistas, both man-made and natural – with a final destination of magnificent Machu Picchu. And in the same country, you can ride on the second highest train service in the world, between Lima and Huancayo – and for more of the same, the line between Salta in Argentina and Antofagasta in Chile happens to be the sixth highest in the world!
Even more thrills will come your way if you journey between Riobamba and Alausí in Ecuador, on the Devil’s Nose line – especially if you take the option of wending and weaving your way through that mountainous terrain whilst sat on the roof of the train! But for a quieter if no less enjoyable experience, Chile’sTren de Vino offers a quite charming journey through the local vineyards.
So why not come and see South America in the way it was meant to be seen? Contact us if you can’t find the ideal holiday package for you online and we’ll find it for you – at unbeatable prices.
