Prohibition is over people and there’s never been a better time to hit the shores of Atlantic City and stroll along the original American boardwalk, in search of: stylish shopping, attraction-packed piers and plenty of glittering casinos. Renowned as the east coast’s answer to Vegas, it’s no surprise that AC was the inspiration behind the board game Monopoly and, if you’re looking to break the bank and have some fun then this is what it’s all about.
Atlantic City is regarded as a premier party capital and comedy dens, lounge bars, 24hr gaming and dance-till-dawn clubs will all tempt you from an early start. Thanks to the city’s shoreline location there are loads of things to do beachside with surfing, fishing and kayaking amongst the excellent alternatives to the glitzy city streets. However you choose to spend your time, there’s never been a better place to indulge and from boardwalk favourites, such as pretzels and foot-longs, to gourmet restaurants, featuring everything from steaks to seafood, Atlantic City’s got the lot.
The city 'Jitney' mini-bus service offers frequent short hop shops around the city for $3. Although if time is on your side, we'd recommend a leisurely stroll along the ironic boardwalk. Stop here and there to wander into the hotels, and generally take in the scene.
