Wildlife
There’s some great opportunities for you to get close to some incredible wildlife in Puerto Rico.
This wonderful country of the Caribbean really is an ideal place to visit if the idea of mixing fun in the sun – you’ll find plenty of that here too! – with a walk on the wild side appeals to you, and although you’ll see great animals everywhere, there’s some places you simply must visit:
On one of its neighbouring islands you’ll find the Vieques National Wildlife Refuge, a superb spot for some snorkelling, as are Angel Reef and Anchor Reef, nearby. Also here there’s an opportunity to see the lush landscape in perhaps the best way possible, courtesy of the locally organised equestrian trails.
Humacao, on the mainland, has another nature reserve, and again here there’s great diving to be experienced, getting you close to the marine life of the area – and best of all perhaps, a chance to kayak across to Monkey Island, and we think you can probably guess what you’ll find there!
Around San Juan there’s adventures to be had in the Yunque Rainforest and the Maricao Forest Preserve, and the Museo de Vida Silvestre will educate you further on the creatures of the area, with their many superb exhibits.
And with just a little bit of luck and perseverance, you may even get to see humpback whales in the area around Rincon!
And so it continues. We think you’re going to adore Puerto Rico, and all its animals, and if you’re unable to find just the right package for you online, contact our team of experts and they’ll find it for you – at unbeatable prices.
