Postcards from Italy: Lake Garda & Taormina
Italy has a wonderful way of blending natural beauty, culture and unforgettable experiences, and two places that really stood out for me were Lake Garda and Taormina. At Lake Garda, the scenery alone is enough to take your breath away. Surrounded by dramatic mountains and charming lakeside towns, it’s a dream destination if you love the outdoors. There are fantastic cycling routes tracing the shoreline, scenic walks leading to hidden waterfalls, and one of my favourite experiences was hopping on the ferry to explore the different settlements around the lake. Each stop has its own unique charm and history, making it such an easy and enjoyable place to discover.
Taormina, on the other hand, feels like it has been lifted straight from the pages of a fantasy novel. Perched high above the sea with incredible views, the town is filled with beautiful streets, welcoming locals and a warm Sicilian atmosphere. What makes it so special is the perfect blend of history and relaxation – you can explore the cultural and historic town in the morning and then take the cable car down to the beach below. And of course, the food is simply unforgettable. Some of the best meals I’ve ever had were here, and it’s the kind of place where every view, every dish and every moment feels a little bit magical.

Portugal: The Home from Home I Always Return To
Portugal has always felt a little like a second home to me. I spent a big part of my childhood travelling back and forth to the Algarve, and every visit seemed to reveal something new. One year it was discovering hidden beaches tucked between the golden cliffs – many of which are regularly voted among the best in Europe. Another time it was wandering the lively market town of Loulé, exploring the incredible sea caves near Portimão, or simply enjoying something as memorable as rice pudding ice cream along the marina in Vilamoura. It was always such an easy place to return to – the welcoming people, fantastic food and relaxed atmosphere make it perfect for family holidays or a laid-back escape with friends.
Since then, my love for Portugal has only grown. Travelling further afield to Lisbon, Sintra and Madeira made me fall in love with the country all over again. Lisbon’s colourful streets, Sintra’s fairy-tale palaces and the dramatic scenery of Madeira feel completely different from the Algarve’s sun-soaked coastline, yet equally captivating. Madeira in particular feels wonderfully unique – from its lush landscapes and striking Bird of Paradise flowers to the elegance and history of Reid’s Palace, which gives the island a truly luxurious feel.
And the best part? There’s still so much more I’d love to explore. As a devoted Port drinker, Porto and the Douro Valley are firmly next on my list, while Cape Verde promises the perfect dose of winter sunshine when the British weather turns grey. I’m even tempted by the idea of venturing further afield to São Tomé, proving that once Portugal captures your heart, the journey of discovery never really ends.

All Aboard for Europe’s Grand Imperial Cities
One of my favourite journeys to recommend is exploring Europe’s beautiful Imperial Cities by rail. Travelling between Prague, Vienna, Bratislava and Budapest couldn’t be easier – comfortable trains connect these historic capitals in just a few hours, meaning you can sit back, relax and enjoy the changing scenery rather than worrying about airports or long transfers. For me, it’s one of the most enjoyable and romantic ways to discover Central Europe.
Each city has its own charm and character. Prague enchants with its fairy-tale skyline, cobbled streets and the iconic Charles Bridge. Vienna offers imperial elegance, grand palaces and coffee houses where you can linger over cake and conversation. Bratislava feels wonderfully intimate, with its colourful old town and castle views over the Danube, while Budapest is simply magical – especially in the evening when the Parliament and bridges glow over the river. Travelling between them by train makes the whole experience feel effortless, creating a journey that’s as memorable as the destinations themselves

Picture this: You, Sea, Sun & Greece
When I think of the perfect island escape, Greece is always at the top of my list – and Skiathos captures everything I love about it. In my mind, I can already picture those calming Aegean views, every shade of blue stretching out to the horizon, an iced coffee in hand and long, relaxed lunches in a seaside taverna. The island is famous for its dreamy beaches, where soft golden sand meets crystal-clear water that’s almost impossible to resist.
What I really love about Skiathos is how much variety it offers. You’ll find family-friendly beaches, lively spots with music and cocktails, and quieter corners if you simply want to unwind and soak up the sunshine. There’s plenty to do as well, from scenic walks through pine forests to sailing, snorkelling or even scuba diving. Add in the fantastic Greek food and welcoming island atmosphere, and for me it’s the perfect blend of relaxation, adventure and indulgence.

Switzerland: Lakes, Mountains, and Unforgettable Adventures
My trip to Switzerland honestly exceeded every expectation I had. I knew the scenery would be beautiful, but I wasn’t quite prepared for just how breathtaking the mountainous landscapes would be. Everywhere I looked felt like a postcard moment – towering Alpine peaks, crystal-clear lakes reflecting the mountains, and views that somehow looked even more incredible than the photos you see beforehand.
What I loved most was how varied the experience felt. One moment you’re gazing across a peaceful lake surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery, and the next you’re wandering through charming villages or elegant cities full of culture and history. It’s the kind of destination that feels both relaxing and inspiring at the same time – the perfect escape into nature with just the right amount of character and charm.
For me, Switzerland was one of those trips that stays with you long after you return home, filled with memories I know I’ll treasure forever.

Morocco Calling : Medina Magic & Beachside Retreats
Morocco is one of those destinations I always recommend when someone wants something truly different from the usual European escape. It’s a place where every day feels like a new adventure – from exploring the colourful souks and historic streets of Marrakesh and Fez to wandering through the famous blue-washed alleys of Chefchaouen, which feel almost magical around every corner.
What I love most about Morocco is the incredible variety you can experience in one trip. You can watch the sunset over the Sahara Desert, hike through the dramatic landscapes of the Atlas Mountains, and then unwind by the Atlantic coast in laid-back beach towns like Essaouira. Along the way, the food is a highlight in itself – think fragrant tagines, fluffy couscous and warm Moroccan hospitality.
For me, it’s a destination that offers culture, scenery and experiences that feel wonderfully different from anywhere in Europe.
