Itinerary

Day by day

Day 1 London to Peru

Fly from London to Lima. Arrive at Lima Airport and transfer to your hotel: Casa Andina Miraflores Centro.

Day 2 Lima

Enjoy a fabulous half day sightseeing tour covering the best of Colonial and Modern Lima. Visit the Government Palace, the Plaza Mayor, the Cathedral and the beautiful 17th century San Francisco Monastery. Continue to the pre-Inca pyramid Huaca Huallamarca and explore the on-site museum (closed Mon) before continuing to the suburb of Miraflores which overlooks the Pacific Ocean.

Day 3 Lima – Cuzco

Flight to the ancient Inca capital of Cuzco, arguably Latin America’s colonial jewel with the lively Plaza de Armas at it’s heart. Spend the rest exploring on your own, or just relax and get used to the altitude.

Day 4 Cuzco to The Sacred Valley

Travel into the beautiful Sacred Valley where you explore the Pisac Indian market and the ancient Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo.

Day 5 Machu Picchu

Take a scenic bus ride to Ollantaytambo and board the train for a journey along riverbanks and through meadows and stunning mountain scenery as you travel to Aguas Calientes. Transfer to a bus for the final part of your journey to Machu Picchu. The views and ruins are astonishing and your guide will bring this ‘Lost City’ to life.

Day 5 Machu Picchu to Cuzco

Morning at leisure; you may want to return to the ruins for sunrise. In the afternoon return to Cuzco.

Day 6 Cuzco to Iguassu Falls

Transfer to Cusco airport for your onward travel arrangements to Iguassu falls. When you arrive a transfer will be waiting to pick you up and transfer you to your hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure.

Day 7 - 8 Iguassu Falls

2 full days to enjoy this natural beauty. If it's already hot, begin with the Garganta del Diablo or a boat trip under falls, for maximum spray. Relax afterward at Guira Oga, or take in the town's tiny Ecomuseum and Museo Municipal de Bellas Artes. If you've planned your trip well, spend your starry night above the falls once more, on a romantic full moon tour.

Day 9 Iguassu Falls to Buenos Aires

This morning enjoy some breakfast before your transfer picks you up and takes you back to the airport ready for your onward flight to Buenos Aires. When you arrive a transfer will be waiting to pick you up and take you to your hotel.

Day 10-13 Buenos Aires

Enjoy 3 full days here. Buenos Aires is by far the most European city in South America. Its architecture, streets, squares and fashion conscious population sometimes give you the feeling of walking around a Spanish city rather than a South American one.

One of the best streets which illustrate this is Avenue 9 de Julio, which is the widest avenue in the world and has 10 ten traffic lanes! This street in the Microcentro (city centre) is possibly the best place to see the Portenos (locals) go about their day to day life.

East of this street is Plaza de Mayo which dates back as far as 1580 and has been the scene for many important political events in the past. The square is complimented by buildings of historical significance including Cathedral Metropolitana, and two of the city's most popular museums, Casa Rosada and Museo Cabildo.

Half way up (or down) Avenue 9 de Julio is Plaza de la Republica. You cannot miss this square thanks to the Obelisco which stands 67 metres high right in the centre. To the left and right of the square is Avenue Corrientes which is lined with ticket offices selling discounted tickets for theatres, tango shows and more. If you fancy extending your activities into the night this is where to begin.

Day 14 Buenos Aires to London

This morning a transfer will pick you up and take you back to the airport ready for your flight home.

Day 15 London

Arrive back into the UK after a fantastic holiday.
