Overview
Highlights / General details The White Tower is one of the most important historic buildings in the world. It’s an iconic symbol of London and Britain, and one of the world’s premier tourist attractions. Be dazzled by the 23,578 gems that make up the Crown Jewels, including the world’s most famous diamonds. You'll find this amazing collection in the Jewel House. See five hundred years of spectacular royal armour, offering a fascinating insight into the personalities, power and physical size of England’s kings. Entrance to this spectacular new exhibition is included in your standard admission ticket to the Tower. Lady Jane Grey was queen for nine days. She was imprisoned and executed at the Tower. But before her death, did the queen leave stone graffiti? Join a Yeoman Warder tour (included in your admission ticket) and you'll be entertained by tales from the Tower; pain and passion, treachery and torture, all delivered with a swagger and a smile! There have been prisoners at the Tower almost since it was built. Our new interactive displays help children and adults explore their stories. Legend says that the kingdom and the Tower will fall if the six ravens ever leave the Tower. The ravens have become one of the Tower's most famous sights. Execution inside the Tower was a privilege for those of high rank. Tower Green contains the memorial to the people who died here. The Medieval Palace contains fabulous interiors. Discover what life was like and experience the sounds and aromas of life in a surprisingly luxurious medieval household. We have a wide range of activities and tours to entertain families. Choose from family trails, spotting ravens, joining a Yeoman Warder tour and much, much more. Crown Jewels - The new exhibition will explore the importance of the Crown Jewels to the British monarchy, the role of the Tower in protecting these treasures and the long and fascinating tradition of coronations in England. The mystique and beauty of the diamonds and precious jewels in the collection have always held an unparalleled allure to visitors from across the globe. The Coronation ceremony will be the central theme of the re-presentation. The displays will examine how the royal regalia are used during the ceremony, and explore the symbolism of each object. Destroyed at the Tower after the Civil War and remade for Charles II's coronation in 1661, the Crown Jewels signify royal authority to lead, and protect, the nation. The priceless collection holds some of the most legendary and extraordinary diamonds in the world. The Crown Jewels at the Tower of London are a unique working collection of royal regalia and are still regularly used by the Queen in imortant national ceremonies, such as the State opening of Parliament.
