Adalaide is the state capital , renowned for its arts, cuisine, sports and shopping, Adelaide is the perfect pit stop for a few well deserved days off. Wander the streets of this vibrant European style, festival-thronged city or kick back on one of its glorious suburban beaches.

Day 10 Adelaide to Barossa

This morning pick up your hire car from downtown and make you way to Barossa. The journey takes just over an hour. You should arrive just after lunch time so check into your hotel and why not enjoy an early evening vineyard tour with a spot of dinner under the stars.

Day 11 – 12 Barossa

There is so much to do here for your 2 full days. Williamstown - Just outside the town is the Barossa Reservoir with its engineering feat, the Whispering Wall. The wall has a remarkable acoustic phenomenon; messages whispered at one side can be heard clearly at the other end 460 feet away. Continue on to Lyndoch, perhaps stopping for morning tea at the Lyndoch Bakery, where the European influence of this region can be found in specialty breads and pastries.

After Lyndoch, there is an endless choice of attractions and wineries. On the road to Tanunda, stop at the Jacob's Creek Visitor's Center, 'home' to the famous wine and cellar door of the major wine company Orlando Wyndham. Other wineries along this road include Grant Burge Wines and St Hallett Wines, each known for their premium wines. The town of Tanunda is a delight, and a walk around is the best way to see its historic attractions. There are good country cafes, bakeries and antiques and craft shops along the street too. Recommended wineries on the outskirts of Tanunda include Peter Lehmann Wines, Richmond Grove and Langmeil. Drive to the town of Angaston via Mengler Hill Lookout for one of the best views of the Barossa Valley.

In Angaston, visit the Angas Park Fruit Company to purchase some delicious dried fruits, and the South Australian Company Store for a wide range of South Australian products. Both Saltram Winery and Yalumba are near Angaston, and a short drive away is the historic Henschke winery, also well worth a visit. This afternoon continue exploring the wineries of the region, perhaps visiting those near the town of Nuriootpa, such as Elderton Wines, Penfolds Wines and the Wolf Blass Visitors Center.
