DAY 01 - 04: NEW YORK, USA

New York City probably tops the list of holiday destinations which could be said to be the perfect package – offering virtually every kind of experience you could think of, an almost endless list of truly impressive sights, and a friendly welcome second to none.

DAY 04 - 07: BOSTON, USA

If America doesn't 'do' history, then they should perhaps let Boston know. Boston, a popular USA multi-centre stop off, is the cultural hub on the east coast in Massachusetts and drenched with History. A particular tea party helped shape the present day United States of America. Grand claims have been made of Massachusetts’ capital of Boston throughout its history.

They are reflected in many of Boston’s nicknames: ‘Cradle of Modern America,’ ‘Hub of the Solar System’ and ‘Athens of America.’ However, in the beginning, when the settlement in Boston took root in 1624, it was simply called ‘Tri-mountain’, given its location beside three hills on the mouth of the Charles River. This was before Boston was named after the small English town in Lincolnshire, the original home of several founding Puritan families.

A big university town, Boston can be refreshingly highbrow, but it's also unpretentious. Its proud Irish and Italian communities are as huge a part of the city's make-up as its sports fanaticism or its artistic leanings. A short trip to Boston is truly an unforgettable experience, as Boston has so much to offer.

DAY 07 - 10: MONTREAL, CANADA

A determined mixture of French and Canadian, this city's dual personality is reflected in its architecture as well as its population. Drop by Place Ville Marie, Place d'Armes and the beautiful Notre Dame Basilica. Take a walk in the beautiful Jean-Drapeau Parc or a Bateau Mouche down the St Lawrence River.

After all that culture and beautiful buildings, you might be in the mood for a slightly less highbrow pursuit. and what could fit the bill better than shopping?

And as the Canadian Dollar buys you more for your pound than the US dollar, Canada is THE place to shop! Malls include Montréal Eaton Centre, Complexe des Jardins, Le Faubourg Sainte-Catherine and the Place Ville Marie. Wander around Old Montréal for knick-knacks and antiques. Boulevard St Denis is Montréal's Latin Quarter, lined with shops, cafés, bistros and bars.
