Mont Rochelle is a stunning 22-bedroom hotel and vineyard just under an hour’s drive from Cape Town in the town of Franschhoek in South Africa. Franschhoek is a traditional vineyard town in the Western Cape Province famously known as the French Corner of the Cape and is considered to be the food and wine capital of South Africa.
In Mont Rochelle's vineyard we cultivate grapes of the Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties amongst a few others. The vineyards are situated between 250m and 400m above sea level exposing the grapes to a range of micro climates. Mediterranean-like conditions found in the Western Cape means dry summers and high winter rainfalls of 1000mm. The Franschhoek Valley also experiences the south-easter which helps bring in cooler air allowing for a longer ripening period.
