Overview

Explore three of Bali's most incredible Islands in pure luxury starting with the beach resort of Nusa Dua then discover Balis neighbouring Island, Lombok then rounding off this incredible holiday on the small, paradise of Gili Islands

First up is Nusa Dua. Nusa Dua, on Bali's southern tip, is the modern side of Bali. Built in the 1970s, Nusa Dua was designed to compete with international beach resorts around the world and has a dream-like tropical paradise feeling about it. The resort is quiet and exclusive with a beautiful beach, immaculate palm gardens, deluxe facilities and a relaxed ambience.

Next up, Lombok. Long overshadowed by neighbouring Bali, Lombok is blessed with exquisite beaches, a spectacular marine life, epic surf, a lush forested interior, stunning rice fields and the soaring Mount Rinjani volcano. With no shortage of attractions both in and out of the water, the alluring island of Lombok won't disappoint.

Last but by no means least, Gili Islands. Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and Gili Meno make up the renowned island trio situated off Lombok's northwest coast. In the Sasak language, 'gili' means small island, which perfectly describes these little gems.

Fringed by white sand beaches and coconut palms sitting in a turquoise sea, the Gili Islands are a vision of paradise.

DAY 01 - 05: NUSA DUA, BALI

Nusa Dua, on Bali's southern tip, is the modern side of Bali. Built in the 1970s, Nusa Dua was designed to compete with international beach resorts around the world and has a dream-like tropical paradise feeling about it. The resort is quiet and exclusive with a beautiful beach, immaculate palm gardens, deluxe facilities and a relaxed ambience.

The crystal clear shallow waters and the pearly soft white sandy beaches surrounding Nusa Dua make it a perfect place for all members of the family to relax and rejuvenate. With wide boulevards and manicured gardens, the myriad of luxury hotels and resorts, built no higher than the coconut trees, ensure every comfort and indulgence is at your disposal. For those keen to be active a variety of watersports are available from the beach or perhaps opt for one of the exclusive golf courses. However, if you are in need of pampering, the spas in Nusa Dua are quite simply sublime.

When it comes to shopping in Nusa Dua, look no further than the huge open air Bali Collection Mall, which features traditional handicrafts and souvenirs along with international fashions, a department store, supermarket and a choice of dining options. However, in Nusa Dua most of the best restaurants and bars are found within the hotels with sunset cocktails and beachfront dining venues the norm.

DAY 05 - 08: LOMBOK, BALI

Long overshadowed by neighbouring Bali, Lombok is blessed with exquisite beaches, a spectacular marine life, epic surf, a lush forested interior, stunning rice fields and the soaring Mount Rinjani volcano. With no shortage of attractions both in and out of the water, the alluring island of Lombok won't disappoint.

The coastal town of Senggigi is the main tourist hub of Lombok. With sweeping bays separated by towering headlands this sleepy resort is where you'll find a variety of hotels and restaurants as well as a handful of bars and shops. Senggigi Beach is also one of the island's surf spots, although the south west coast is where you'll find the big waves, particularly Desert Point. For those seeking a truly peaceful location to stay, look no further than enchanting Medana Bay with its pristine sands, backdrop of Mt Rinjani and picturesque views of the Gili Islands.

The aforementioned Gili Islands, or more specifically Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and Gili Meno, are a trio of coral-fringed islands, offering some of the region's best snorkelling and diving thanks to the extensive marine life that includes turtles, white-tip reef sharks, moray eels, angel fish and ghost pipefish. Just 30 minutes by boat the gorgeous Gili Islands are also known for their idyllic white sandy beaches, so perfect for some tropical island lounging.

As an alternative to the beaches, venture inland to discover traditional Sasak villages or for those with an adventurous streak the chance to visit Mount Rinjani should not be missed. The second highest volcanic peak in Indonesia, it is part of the 'ring of fire' and is considered a sacred place on Lombok. Around the slopes there are lush forests and waterfalls while within the mountain, 1968 feet below the crater rim, is a stunning crescent shaped lake.

DAY 08 - 10: GILI ISLANDS, BALI

Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and Gili Meno make up the renowned island trio situated off Lombok's northwest coast. In the Sasak language, 'gili' means small island, which perfectly describes these little gems.

Fringed by white sand beaches and coconut palms sitting in a turquoise sea, the Gili Islands are a vision of paradise.

Gili Meno is the smallest and serves as an ideal choice for an escape with beautifully barren beaches, preserved nature and a local ban on late night music. The island's attractions include a mini turtle sanctuary, Meno's Bird Park and a unique saltwater lake where you can spot tropical birds and wildlife.

Gili Air is positioned at the start of the string of islands, closest to the Lombok mainland. The beaches around the northern coastline are hushed and isolated while those on the southeast coast offers a variet of dining and nightlife choices. The island is also the place to catch the most stunning sunset and sunrise.

The largest of the three islands, Gili Trawangan, is the most well-established offering plenty of facilities and a great nightlife in the south. The main beach can be particularly busy, but if you're seeking tranquility, the beaches on the secluded western shore of the island offer a more relaxed style.

All three islands are highly popular with divers, with the waters surrounding them boasting coral gardens that teem with rich tropical marine biodiversity and offer good visibility year round.
