You will get to visit four different places in Brazil and explore the local cultures and attractions. Spend 3 nights in Rio de Janiero, onto Ouro Preto for 1 night, then 1 night in Olinda, and finally a 3 night stop in Salvador before flying back home.
Day 1: Fly to Rio de Janeiro from the UK
Fly from the UK to Rio de Janeiro, and make your way to your hotel to check in. Once checked in, you have the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 2-3: Rio de Janeiro
Your first day in Rio is perhaps best spent getting oriented to the city. Get a bird’s eye helicopter view of the marvellous city guarded by giant granite rocks and vast blue oceans. Alternatively roam downtown on foot or bicycle and mingle with the charming locals while learning of the city’s fascinating lore and history. Follow this up with a delectable seafood lunch cruise that sails past the beaches of Niteroi. When the sun sets it’s time to take out your dancing shoes! Catch a samba show and enjoy a famous Brazilian steakhouse dinner.
A holiday in Rio is incomplete without a tour of the famed trifecta of Corcovado, Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf which includes a ride through the Tijuca Rain forest by cog train! Opt for either a half-day or full-day tour and save some time to explore the quaint town of Buzios, known for its architectural finesse. Alternatively visit Petropolis, the lap of luxury, home to Brazil’s two emperors. End your Brazilian sojourn with a sumptuous carnivorous buffet at Porcao or taste some traditional Portuguese fare at the famous Antiquarius.
Day 4: Fly onto Ouro Preto
After your stay you will catch your flight from Rio de Janerio to Belo Horizonte. Make your own way to Ouro Preto for your stay in a centrally located hotel. Spend the rest of your day exploring.
Day 5: Ouro Preto
You will have this full day to wander the traditional city of Ouro Preto and explore at leisure. As you make your way around this colonial city you will experience the Baroque architectural structures, and old cobbled streets which have made this a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Local tours are offered around the city, or you can make your own way around, and discover the landmarks of the city, such as the Church of Saint Francis of Assisi, the Opera House, and the Church of Our Lady of Mercy.
At the end of your day, why not try some of the local cuisine at one of the restaurants? You will have many restaurants to choose from in this great city.
Day 6: Fly onto Olinda (Recife Airport)
Today you will be making your way back to the airport for your flight onto your next stop, Olinda - flying into Recife. Once you have checked into your hotel, you will have the rest of the day to relax or explore the area.
Day 7: Olinda
Another UNESCO World Heritage Site (named in 1992), this is a great destination to explore on your full day. The city was founded in the 16th Century, but was rebuilt in the 18th Century after the place was looted by the Dutch. So you will experience elements of the old and the newer heritage.
This destination is one of the quieter areas, but at the same time offers sightseeing in the form of a colourful history along with a particular charm only found here. Explore the cobbled streets, museums, gardens and many churches this city has to offer.
Day 8: Fly onto Salvador
Return back to the airport for your flight onto your final destination, Salvador. One you have arrived and checked-in at your city hotel, you will have the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 9-10: Salvador
Welcome to the party capital of Brazil! Many people think it’s Rio de Janeiro but Salvador is in fact the real party capital. Experience the musical feel of the city and hear the sound of bongo drums whilst walking through Salvador’s Old Town, which is just the beginning of the rhythmic reminder of the this city’s African heritage.
During these two full days you will be able to explore the historic city of Salvador and the famous Pelourinho district, which shows off its colonial buildings with vibrant facades, and the stunning church of San Francisco.
Day 11: Fly back to the UK
You will be heading back to the airport to catch your flight UK bound.
