Chiang Rai

Elephant Adventure, Hilltribe & Mae Kok River, £80 per person - After a scenic 70km drive from Chang Rai you will arrive at the boat landing on the Mae Kok River for the first part of your adventure. Board a long-tail speed boat for an exciting hour long cruise on this beautiful river through verdant jungle and towering mountain cliffs. Your journey will take you past several local hill and jungle tribes that inhabit the area and your guide will gladly provide an insight into these friendly people and their distinct culture, religion, language, art, and dress. Eventually your boat will arrive at the Karen Hilltribe Village, where you leave the boats behind and join an elephant trek into the hills. This memorable two hour adventure will take you up and down hills through the jungle to a Yao Hill Tribe Village. Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant before visiting an Akha hill tribe to learn more about the fascinating hill tribe culture. After enjoy a trek to a waterfall where you can take a refreshing swim and enjoy a brief respite before returning to Chiang Rai via a local handicrafts centre.

Mae Kong River Trip, £68 per person - After a pick-up from your hotel, head for Thailand’s infamous Golden Triangle area, once notorious for its opium production. While the opium trade has now all but disappeared, it is a beautiful and colourful place to visit and the meeting point of Thailand, Burma and Laos. The beautiful Mae Kong River is one of its best natural attractions and one of the longest rivers in the world. From the boat landing point in the Golden Triangle, enjoy a leisurely 45 minute cruise along this mighty river taking in the scenic views of jungle, hills, villages and temples. The cruise takes you to the old capital city of Chiang Saen, to visit its ancient, ruins and temples. Visit Chiang Saen Museum to learn about it’s volatile past - during the long history of conflict between the Siamese and Burmese kingdoms, possession of Chiang Saen passed back and forth and was even levelled in the 1804 to remove any Burmese temptation to retake the city.  Also visit the beautiful Temple of Wat Pa Sak Ngarm, and the Temple of Wat Phra Thad Jom Kitti which proudly overlooks the Mekong River.

Chiang Rai City & Temples, £40 per person - This fascinating tour introduces you to the wealth of ancient temples that can be found in Chiang Rai and includes guided visits to three of her most fascinating and renowned sites. The tour starts with a visit to the main market area in Chiang Rai, before heading to the Temple of Wat Phra Kaew. Chiang Rai's Temple of the Emerald Buddha is a must see for everyone. Built in the 12th century during the Lanna Empire it was here that the famed Emerald Buddha was discovered. This has since been taken to Bangkok but a replica was made and placed in the same spot where the original was found. The tour then continues to the Temple of Wat Doi Thong which overlooks the Mae Kok River from its perch on a hill at the site along the river known as the Navel Pillar. You will also visit King Meng Rai’s Monument and before ending your tour at the Temple of Wat Rong Khun. Also known as ‘The White Temple’ here you will find murals and paintings of the Buddha image and a painted enamel ceramic floor. The outside of the temple is created from lime sculpture Thai designs decorated with small pieces of mirror that make the building sparkle and shine under the sunlight.

One Day Trekking, £71 per person - Leave your hotel for a long-tailed boat trip along the Kok River to Baan Huay Mak Leam where you start trekking up and down hill into the jungle to visit several unique hilltribe villages including Akha, Lahu and Karen. Along the way you will visit a natural hot spring where you can enjoy bathing in the mineral warm water. The highlight is to trek to Huay Kaew Waterfall, the two stories waterfall in the middle of the rain forest with its height of 30 and 40 meters tall. The sound of water crashing rocks can be heard from several hundred meters before you reach the waterfall.

Full Day Glimpse in to Myanmar & The Golden Triangle, £95 per person - Spend a day in Myanmar on this full day tour. We start with a drive to Mae Sai, the bustling border town. Cross the border into Myanmar and by tuk tuk (also known as three wheeler) explore the border town of Tachilek. You will visit the Temple of the Enrobened Elephant and the Mahamyatmuni Temple, a fine example of typical Burmese architecture. Continue to Tachilek’s own Shwedagon Pagoda, a smaller copy of the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon. After visting these architecture wonders, enjoy an authentic Burmese lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch there will be time to visit the interesting border market, a favorite destination for Thai day-trippers. We then return to Thailand and continue to the Golden Triangle, the place where the borders of Laos, Thailand and Myanmar meet. Here we visit the Hall of Opium, where the history of the use of Opium, poppy cultivation and the opium trade in the Golden Triangle is told. With this visit we finish our tour and return to Chiang Rai.

Bangkok

Damnern Saduak Floating Market, £35 per person – Hop into a narrow long-tailed speedboat and visit Damnoen Saduak, Thailand’s most famous floating market. These colourful, bustling floating markets travel along the canals in canoes laden with fresh fruit and vegetables to sell to shoppers on the banks. Join in the excitement and try your hand at bartering!

Bridge on the River Kwai, £49 per person – In this excursion you can get away from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok and discover the famous bridge over the River Kwai, only 100 kilometres from the city. This trip will take you to the province of Kanchanabury, located to the West of Bangkok. Once there you will have the opportunity to visit the war cemetery where more than 9000 allied soldiers are buried as well as a reconstruction of a POW camp that also houses a museum. Discover the Bridge over the River Kwai, notorious for having built by allied POWs during the Second World War. Take a train across the river along the original “death railway” while you enjoy the views and spectacular jungle landscapes. Enjoy this popular and unrepeatable experience while a knowledgeable local guide provides a fascinating commentary about this famous and spectacular place.

Thai Boxing, £75 per person – Where better to watch the thrilling sport of Thai Boxing than in one of the two most-important boxing stadiums in Thailand’s capital of Bangkok! After being collected from your hotel, you’ll be taken to one of Bangkok’s two boxing stadiums where matches are held most nights. Muay Thai, or Thai Boxing, now a popular sport all over the world, begins with a special pre-fight ceremony to show respect for the fighters’ religion, their trainers and the sportsmanship involved. Once the match begins, the atmosphere inside the stadium becomes electric as opponents use every part of their body to kick, punch and fight their way to victory – all played out to the sound of gamblers shouting the odds on the winner and strident background Thai boxing music! At the end of the match, you’ll be returned safely to your centrally located Bangkok hotel.

Bangkok Waterways, £39 per person – Bangkok’s waterways are what earned it the title ‘Venice of the East’ and these ‘klongs’ provide the city’s lifeblood. On this exciting morning tour, enjoy a journey along the Choa Phraya River by motor boat to Thornburi where Bangkok was founded, and visit the Temple Wat Arun and the Royal Barges Museum. Hop into a motor boat which will whisk you along the Chao Phraya River to the klongs (canals) of Thornburi where Bangkok was founded. Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of ordinary Thai people as they go about their day cooking in floating kitchens, purchasing goods from floating shops and living in the traditional manner along the riverbank. During the tour, you’ll visit the magnificent Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn). A Wat is a Buddhist religious where men and women can be ordained as monks or nuns. The tour also includes a visit to the Royal Barges Museum which houses the eight elaborately decorated long-boats which are used during royal ceremonial processions. At the end of the tour, you’ll be returned to your hotel.

Floating Markets and Bridge on the River Kwai, £59 per person – Discover two of Thailand’s most popular attractions on this full day experience from Bangkok, perfect for those who have limited time in Thailand’s capital. Your day commences with a scenic drive through sugar cane fields, rice paddies and pineapple plantations before embarking on an exciting long tail speed-boat ride to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, passing traditional stilt houses and scenes that have changed little over the centuries. Enjoy the sights, smells and sounds of the famous market where you will find hundreds of Thai style canoes laden with fruits, vegetables, sweets and meats. If you want to get really close to the action, your local Thai guide will help you organise a local boat ride through the markets (optional extra, payable locally).

Half Day Bangkok Temples Tour, £29 per person – Thailand is predominantly a Buddhist country with around 95% of Thai's practicing the Theravada discipline of Buddhism. Therefore on the streets of Bangkok it is not unusual to see monks walking along the road and it is no surprise that Thailand has over 26.000 Wat's (the local name for Temple).
