Overview

Thailand's capital, Bangkok is divided by the Chao Phraya River and is nestled in one of the world's most fertile rice-producing deltas.

Bangkok's 579 square miles are cris-crossed by a series of canals carrying passengers and cargo. Its roads are clotted with endless traffic jams while the city sprawls in all directions with a hodgepodge of urban, commercial and industrial buildings.

Khao San Road is one of the city's most vibrant streets and is probably one of the best examples in the world of a backpacker's 'ghetto'. Day and night the short stretch of road is abuzz with activity. On the banks of the Chao Phraya River visitors will find the Grand Palace as well as Wat Phra Kaew, the palace temple housing the Emerald Buddha constructed entirely from translucent green jade.

Kanchanaburi, in Myanmar border, is home to the famous Bridge River Kwai. During WW II, Japan constructed the meter-gauge railway line from Ban Pong, Thailand to Thanbyuzayat, Burma. The line passing through the scenic Three Pagodas Pass runs for 250 miles. This is now known as the Death Railway.

INCLUDES Full Day Bridge Over The River Kwai - With Hotel Pick up / Drop off

This tour takes you to the beautiful province of Kanchanaburi where you will take a trip back in history at the River Kwai and its famous bridge. You will visit the war cemetery and a reconstructed POW camp that now houses a museum. After that, experience what will probably be the most spectacular part of the tour: the train ride across the bridge and along part of the original “Death Railway”.

Here you will enjoy the views of the river and take in the spectacular scenery. The train slows down at the most impressive viewpoints en route to ensure you will be able to take some stunning photos. Enjoy your lunch at a local restaurant.

INCLUDES Damnoen Saduak Floating Market Tour - With Hotel Pick up / Drop off

Depart to Ratchaburi province for the village of Damnoen Saduak, about 110km from Bangkok. Damnoen Saduakis surrounded by a network of khlongs (canals) that radiate out into the orchards and gardens in the surrounding countryside. Daily, local farmers gather fruits, vegetables and prepared foods and trade them along the canals near the drop off point at the market wharf. Seasonal fruits offered include mango, jackfruit, rambutan, the notoriously pungent durian and many more.

INCLUDES Grand Palace and Bangkok Temples - With Hotel Pick up / Drop off

Uncover the royal and spiritual riches of Bangkok with this cultural half-day guided tour taking in the architectural masterpiece that is the Grand Palace of the kings of Siam and the wonderful Wat Pho and Wat Traimit temples, where the star attractions are golden Buddha, each one very special in its own right.

Itinerary

DAY 01 - 06: BANGKOK, THAILAND

Thailand's capital is divided by the Chao Phraya River and is nestled in one of the world's most fertile rice-producing deltas.

Slightly upriver are the exquisitely ornamented Royal Barges still used today for special floating processions. Of the 30 or so temples in Bangkok the largest is the Temple of the Reclining Buddha which houses an impressive statue of the deity.

The famous Floating Market is a delight to visitors and well worth a visit. As the sun lurches towards the horizon in the west and the sweat cools and this city of royalty and religion comes alive with a palpable decadence. Music and dazzling neon advertise a miasma of trendy bars and nightclubs as well as the notorious 'girlie joints' that have ensured the Patpong district its reputation for hedonism. Though the city's frenetic pace and infamous congestion can be overwhelming. A holiday in Bangkok is a must for anyone travelling in Thailand.
