Itinerary

Day by day

Day 1 UK to Mauritius

Fly over night from the UK to Mauritius

Day 2 Mauritius

Arrive into Mauritius international airport where a transfer will be waiting to take you to your first hotel. When you have arrived settle into your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure

Day 2-6 Mauritius North Island

You have 4 full days to enjoy the north side of the Island. Here are some of the things we recommend you to do:

  • Mauritius National Botanical garden
  • Visit and tour of the Sugar estate & Museum
  • Visit of the city of Port Louis – The Capital of Mauritius
  • Port Louis’ waterfront area including Caudan Shopping complex
  • Port Louis main market
  • Port Louis craft market
  • Fort Adelaide Port Louis (aka La Citadelle)

The north is arguably one of the best places to scuba dive in Mauritius. There are a range of exciting options available to both beginners and more advanced divers. Of these, some of the most popular are: Gunner’s Coin (26 metres in depth) where big parrotfish can be spotted during each dive; Whale Rock (26 to 38 metres in depth), where you might be lucky enough to witness a hammerhead shark; and Holt’s Rocks (16 to 25 metres in depth), which – as the name suggests – features huge underwater boulders.

One of the most spectacular ways to explore the ocean bed is to take a journey on the Blue Safari submarine or sub-scooter. Doing this allows non-scuba divers to safely enjoy a superb encounter with Mauritius’ vibrant marine life. It also gives them the chance to see various wrecks dating back to the 17th Century.

‘Le Nessee’, a semi-submersible boat, can also take you on a safe and comfortable discovery trip under the sea. It offers a rare and unforgettable experience, providing optimal viewing facilities for all age groups from its below-the-surface viewing room.

For those who want to experience the feeling of actually walking on the sea bed, meanwhile, ‘Captain Nemo’s Undersea Walk’ is a must. Underwater Walk Ltd. has developed a unique solar-powered diving system that sends a constant stream of fresh air to helmets worn by the undersea explorers. This allows non-scuba divers to get as close to sea-life as is physically possible, without the need to undertake expensive and time-consuming scuba qualifications.

Day 7 North to South

This morning enjoy some breakfast before being transferred to the south island. When you arrive at your next hotel get checked in and enjoy some cocktails on the beach at sunset.

Day 8-12 South

The south is very different to the North and offers alot of new experiences for you. Why not take a visit to Mahebourg Market, Of all of Mauritius’ markets, this is probably the least touristic and most traditional, offering great bargains on items including spices, clothes and children’s toys. While here, try some of the traditional food that’s available, including biryanis and kulfi.

Île aux Aigrettes, Nature Reserve, imagine yourself 400 years ago, landing on Mauritius’ shores for the very first time. Forests unfold endlessly in front of you. Pigeons, parrots and fruit bats fly past in great numbers. Giant tortoises and flightless dodos roam up to investigate why you’re here.

Although precious little remains of the island’s original flora and fauna, there is one place you can get to see some of the most endangered species in all their glory: on Île aux Aigrettes.

Here, visitors will find the last remnants of the dry, ebony forest that once grew in abundance across the main island. They will also see some of the work the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation has been undertaking to replant and reintroduce endangered vegetation, birds and reptiles, including rare orchids and the famous pink pigeon.

Or you can simply take in the stunning coastline on your sun lounger and drink in hand!

Day 13 Mauritius to UK

This morning you will be picked up from your hotel and taken back to the airport ready for your overnight flight home.

Day 14 UK

Arrive back into the UK after a fantastic holiday.
