Overview

Fly to Cape Town and stay 3 nights at the fantastic Mandela Rhodes hotel and explore this great city to your leisure. Make the most of your FREE 4 door car to explore the city and surrounding sights. Then drive to stunning Hermanus where whales where you can watch whales playing and frolicking and also visit the local attractions.

Then continue you drive to your private game reserve for a 2 night stay on Half Board that will include 2 FREE game drives per day, one morning and one evening, where you'll hope to see the 'BIG 5'! This reserve is renowned for it's quality hospitality, delicious food and exhilarating game drives where you'll have every chance of seeing the BIG 5 in South Africa.

The final part of your South African adventure sees you driving to Camps bay to spend 2 final nights at the foot of the magnificent '7 apostlas'. This is a truely wonderful South Africa experience not to be missed.

Itinerary

Day 1 London – Cape Town

Fly overnight from London to Cape Town with Emirates or South African Airways.

Day 2 Cape Town

Once you arrive you have a FREE car to collect for the duration of your stay. Make your way to your hotel where the rest of your day is for you to relax and unwind after your flight.

Day 3  Cape Town

Your time in Cape Town is free for you to explore this magnificent city. Get to the top of Table Mountain, go whale watching or even Shark Cage diving for those of you who are brave enough, visit Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years and take in all the amazing things to do around the Victoria & Albert Waterfront or Camps Bay. We have a range of excursions that can be pre-booked so look at the ‘Things to do’ section for suggestions and prices.

Day 4 Cape Town – Hermanus

Today you have a short drive of  an hour and a half to the coastal town on Hermanus, the best land based whale watching destination in the world. Check-in to your hotel and explore the region at your leisure.

Day 5 & 6 Hermanus

You have another 2 days to to explore the region at your own leisure. Why not take a walk along the  popular cliff path that stretches from one side of the town to the other, about 12 km of fresh unpolluted air. An excellent walk and place for whale watchers to study these magnificent creatures. Then finish the day by booking a table at one of the many fantasic restaurants in town.This is an amazing region of South africa and perfect for exploring.

Day 7 Hermanus – Garden Route Game Lodge

This morning you have a drive that will take approximately 3 hours. Once you have arrived at the Garden Route Game Lodge you have an evening game drive to experience and the chance of seeing some or all of the Big 5 if you are lucky!

Day 8 Garden Route Game Lodge

A further day at your game reserve will see you have an early morning game drive and an evening game drive. In between you can relax and unwind in beautiful surroundings.

Day 9 Garden Route Game Lodge - Camps Bay

Before your departure this morning to Camps Bay you’ll have your fourth and final game drive. After checking out of the lodge you’ll make the 3 ½ hour journey to  where you’ll have the rest of the day to explore the area.

Day 10 Camps Bay

Camps Bay is a suburb of Cape Town, with a village feel,Camps Bay is well appointed with more than 20 restaurants, some internationally acclaimed.Today you have a full day to explore the area and we suggest taking a trip or two that the internet traveller can book for you before you travel.You can pre-book these wonderful day trips with us and view all the information by looking at the ‘Things to do’ section.

Day 11 Knysna – Cape Town

Today you return back to the uk, the journey from Camps Bay to the Airport will take appoximately 50 minutes. You will need to allow time to return your hire car before catching your overnight flight back to the UK.

Day 12 London

Arrive back in the UK after enjoying what was hopefully a fantastic holiday!

Cape Town

Cape Town touristic bus 2 day ticket, £24 per person – The Red Route City tour with a stop at the lower cableway to the top of Table Mountain is a great way to get your bearings in Cape Town. The tour departs from the Waterfront and winds its way around the City Centre before climbing to the lower cableway, some 350m above sea level. From there we drop down to the beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton before following the Atlantic through Sea Point back to the Waterfront. Our Blue Route is a spectacularly scenic route outside the City Centre. We hug Devils Peak mountain en route to the World renown Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. We then drive through the Cecilia forest to Hout Bay where we visit several wonderful attractions. From Hout Bay we hug the 12 Apostles Mountain range and follow a spectacular coastal drive to Camps Bay beach, followed by Clifton beach en route back to the Waterfront.

Shark Cage Diving, £105 per person - Make your way to Kleinbaai where you will enjoy a light continental breakfast before your skipper of the day gives you a short lecture on the Great White Shark. Spend approximately 2 - 4 hours on the boat. Depending on conditions embark on an approximate 15 minute dive in the cage. Enjoy a packed lunch on board and return to Kleinbaai for afternoon tea and scones. The general public can enjoy the great white sharks face-to-face. Observing and diving with these creatures under the correct conditions and guidance is a wonderful experience. Do not miss this experience!

Hermanus Whale Watching Tour - £48 per person - Travel along the dramatic Cape Coastline to Hermanus for arguably the best shore-based whale watching in the World and the chance to see a magnificent Southern Right Whale breaching. Close to the southernmost tip of Africa, Hermanus enjoys a richly deserved reputation for its fantastic shore-based whale watching, between July and November. From the excellent vantage points on the rocky cliff path that hugs the coastline from one end of Hermanus to the other, whale watchers can get within 20 meters of these magical creatures as they cruise along the coves. The area is a haven for the Southern Right Whale, but other species including Humpbacks, Killer whales plus Bottlenose and Common dolphins are occasionally sighted. The world’s only ‘Whale Crier’ alerts visitors to the location of the whales by blasting his kelp horn. Enjoy wondrous views of the Cape Peninsula as you return to Cape Town via Sir Lowry’s pass.

Discover Cape Town, £32 per person - A great introduction to this spectacular city, the Cape Town City Tour provides the perfect opportunity to sample some of its attractions and get your bearings. Come with us on the ultimate ‘Mother City’ experience, designed to orientate and give you a full-colour insight into the extraordinary magic of Cape Town. We’ve chosen iconic buildings, snatches of its history, and experiences unique to this City.

Walk to Freedom Tour including Robben Island, £60 per person - A wonderfully intriguing tour of Cape Town's history and culture highlighting the raw energy of this 'Rainbow Nation' and culminating in a fascinating visit to Robben Island, the prison home of Nelsen Mandela for 27 years. Experience the wonderful raw energy of our Townships in one unforgettable morning. An opening history visiting District Six, leads to the oldest township Langa and its people. What a vibe, what positivity, a ‘Rainbow Nation’ in-deed. Strolling through Langa Township, pop in to a ‘shebeen’ (pub), observing the difference in housing quality and witnessing real progress being made in providing decent housing, new developments as well as the restoration of the old single quarters. Then from Langa to Khayelitsha the new kid on the block, the largest in Western Cape all swagger and strut. Large scale developments abound, housing, schools, shopping malls, clinics and many private organisations doing a marvellous job in providing social and other skills to the people at large.

Cape Peninsula Tour, £57 per person - This wonderful tour offers the chance to enjoy some of the spectacular natural wonders on the door step of Cape Town. A scenic drive along the Atlantic coast through Africa’s most desirable neighbourhoods, brings you to glorious Hout Bay and the opportunity to join a short boat trip to Seal Island to view the Cape Fur Seals in their natural habitat (additional cost, payable locally). From here, the tour continues along the stunning Chapman's Peak Drive - a winding road hacked out of the mountain cliffs - to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and its scenic viewing point. Amid the dramatic sea and mountain views, numerous species including antelope, baboons, ostriches and zebra flourish.  The tour concludes with an enchanting visit to the Penguin colony at Boulders Beach and Simon’s Town, one of South Africa’s Oldest European settlements.

Knysna

Private Oudtshoorn Tour, £104 per person - This tour will take you over the Outeniquea Mountains and to the fertile valleys and spectacular countryside of Little Karoo. Once you arrive to Oudtshoorn, the largest settlement in Little Karoo and with broad streets and smart sandstone Victorian houses, you will be taken to Cango Caves, hidden away in the foothills of Swartberg Mountain 28kilometres from Oudtshoorn. The tour offers a fantastic opportunity to see the caves avoiding long queues and only accessible with a pre-booked tour.  Witness the bizarre formations representing millions of years of slow chemical processes and walk through chambers with hanging stalactites and stalagmites formed by the erosion of underwater currents. After your cavern experience, stop at the Cango Wildlife Ranch to appreciate the beauty of the Bengal tiger, wrap yourself in a python or come face to face with Nile crocodiles. Also at Oudtshoorn you will find yourselves surrounded by ostrich farms, your final visit will be to one of these farms which are rarely opened to the public.

Private Knysna & Plettenberg Tour, £83 per person - Come enjoy the glorious scenery from Knysna to Plettenberg Bay, and we’ll show you the stunning birds and the bees…monkeys and hopefully, dolphins too! We interrupt our journey along this celebrated route, to show you the famed cliff formations of the Knysna ‘Heads’, and we take you to our true Garden of Eden, followed by a tour to the Birds of Eden, the largest free flight walk-through aviary in the world. A short hop away is Monkeyland, sanctuary and home to numerous monkey species from around the world. It’s fascinating. And rest assured, as we move from Knysna to Plett as it’s known locally, we’ll all be keeping our eyes peeled for schools of dolphins which frequent this coastline. It’s a wonderfully graceful sight, and a fitting cherry on the top of a delightful day.

Private Tistsikamma Tour, £104 per person - Appreciate one of South Africa’s nature wonders, the spectacular costal rainforest of Tsitsikamma. The drive towards Tsitskamma is a beautiful steep descent through lush vegetation offering wonderful views of the rainforest’s boundaries that reach out to sea. Stroll through this ancient forest and view the 1000 year old Outeniqua yellowwood tree before visiting the Tsitsikamma Coastal Nature Reserve. Afterwards there is a brief stop for lunch (own expense, payable locally) at the Storms River Mouth Restaurant before heading to the highest bungy jump in the world (216 metres). There is an optional chance (additional charge, payable locally) to try the bungy jump for those that are brave enough. Continue to Monkeyland to see rescued lemurs, apes and monkeys from several continents, cross the rope bridge across a canyon to get great view of the forest and enjoy macaws, cockatoos, parrots in their natural environment. The return back to Knysna takes you via Pletterberg Bay where there is a short stop to explore this coastal town.
