The beaches are probably one of the first things you think of when you imagine yourself holiday in this paradise destination and Cancun’s beaches are legendary and with good reason. The soft, white sand that you find in the Caribbean blesses Cancun where the beaches seem to go on forever. The water is unusually warm and the crystal clear and you will always find holidaymakers enjoying the endless activities that are on offer on almost every beach in Cancun. Cancun has a very international flavour and you will hear many different languages when you take a stroll along the beaches or whether indeed you are relaxing in a hammock and indulging yourself in people watching. There are many many miles of beaches to enjoy and as such it is not difficult to find a spot that is relatively quiet and you can enjoy without a lot of interruptions.
The “Zona Hotelera” or Tourist Zone is the main area in Cancun where all visitors will come together. This is a narrow stretch about 14 miles long where you will find hotels and beachfront villas lining the coastline. Kukulcán Boulevard is the main thoroughfare that divides the island and will be a name that you become very familiar with on your travels around Cancun. On the inland side of Cancun Island is Laguna Nichupté, an area that is home to many marinas, various waterfront restaurants, shopping malls and golf courses. You can also see some of the best sunsets from here too. The central area around Laguna Nichupté is known as the “Party Zone” and is home to many nightclubs and discos that offer something for everyone and if you take the time to explore this area you will find somewhere that you will want to go back to time and again.
With the fantastic beaches and warm sea, Cancun is a natural haven for water-sports of all types. Whether you are interested in parasailing, banana boat rides, jet skis or other small watercraft you will find on almost every beach a vendor offering you the opportunity to have a go. Children will also enjoy the modern water park at Punta Nizuc with its wave machines, lazy rivers, slides, a free fall thrill ride and restaurants.
Those of you who like a bit of retail therapy whilst on holiday, don’t panic, Cancun has that covered too. With ultra modern malls, chic boutiques, street vendors and markets the shopping facilities in Cancun are almost endless. With everything from Cuban cigars to fine jewellery Cancun is a shoppers delight.
You will never go hungry in Cancun with the fine variety of dining options available. Steak lovers to Vegetarians, every palate is catered for.
