The Schloss Charlottenburg is a must for all visitors to Berlin. This sumptuously restored palace was commissioned by the future Queen Sophie Charlotte in 1695 with Karl Friedrich Schinkel providing the final touches in the early nineteenth century. The museums and galleries that are in and around the palace include the Egyptian Museum, with its famous bust of Egyptian Queen Nefertiti. The beautiful gardens are open from dawn to dusk and a collection of romantic paintings inside provide the perfect combination for a day’s relaxation.
