This Paris landmark needs no introduction. Perhaps the most recognised landmark in the world, this 320-metre high structure was built by engineer Gustave Eiffel for the 1889 Exposition Universelle. This project which started in 1887 took two years to build and weighs around 10,000 tons. There are 1,700 steps to the top but you will find most visitors using the elevator. There is a film show on the first floor which tells the story of the building of the Tower, and on the second floor you will find the world-famous Jules Verne restaurant.
