Limassol is the second biggest town of Cyprus with a population of 168,000. There are all types of holiday accommodation close to the sea front ranging from luxury hotels, to apartments and villas. The resort of Limassol is the Island’s main port as well as the hub of a thriving wine industry. Limassol today is a cosmopolitan holiday resort with a busy shopping centre, numerous tavernas and restaurants and a varied nightlife scene that caters for all tastes. You will find the majority of hotels and apartments around Limassol stretched out along the coastal road heading south and east. The beaches around this area are well maintained and in the main are pebble and dark sand beaches, with the best known and most popular beach being Ladies Mile, which is over five kilometres long. Away from the beaches and lazing by pool, Limassol is probably the best base for exploring the remarkable scenery and woodland trails of the Troodos Mountains, with its spectacular waterfalls, Byzantine churches and delightful unspoilt villages.
