Belmont Estate

This is one of Grenada’s best spice plantations open to the public. The island is famous for its spices and sugar cane rum and this estate allows you to see the old mills and working machines and is therefore both educating and enjoyable. Visitors can see the ruined sugar mills and also watch and join in if they would like the old fashioned process for making cocoa, stamping on the beans in a copper basin to polish them a process known as “dancing the cocoa”. There is a museum where you can imagine what life was like working in a plantation 50 years ago.
