The Blue Mountains are about 2 hours from Sydney and offer visitors breathtaking views of wild bush land, spectacular rock formations including the Three Sisters and the Grand Arch as well as indigenous wildlife. The Blue Mountains are so called because if viewed from a distance the mountains take on a blue haze which is caused by the release of oils from the eucalyptus forests. Other than the spectacular rock formations some of the other amazing things to do in the Blue Mountains include the Katoomba Scenic Railway which is the steepest railway in the world; The Scenic Skyway which is a glass-bottom cable car that crosses the Jamison Valley and Jenolan Caves which are a impressive series of limestone caves.
